Cateye (Aura)
Products
Gels
- Cateye gel
Tools
- Cateye magnet
Steps
Work one nail at a time and flash cure in between.
-
Mix the polish. The magnetic particles can settle at the bottom, so stir the cateye polish well before starting.
- Apply cateye. Apply a thick, very even layer of cateye gel to the full nail. Do not cure yet.
- Use the magnet. Position the silver side of the magnet facing up and the length of the magnet parallel to the length of the nail. Maintaining this position, slowly bring the magnet closer towards the left side of the nail.
- Twist and pull. Once it is very close (2-3 mm away), slowly twist the magnet away from the nail about 45 degrees until the particles collect into a thin strip. Pull the magnet away quickly. Do not cure
- Repeat. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on the right side of the nail.
- Cure. Once you’re happy with the design, fully cure the nail. Make sure to cure quickly because the magnetic particles will start to drift.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Magnetic effect is weak | Cateye polish not mixed well | Stir the polish thoroughly before application |
| Polish layer too thin | Apply a thicker coat | |
| Not cured quickly enough | Flash cure immediately after achieving the desired effect | |
| Cateye line looks blurry | Magnet held too far away or moved away too slowly | Hold the magnet close to the nail and pull it away quickly |
| Particles pull unevenly | Magnet angle inconsistent | Keep the magnet angle consistent on both sides of the nail |
| Nail base uneven | Ensure the nail enhancement underneath your cateye design is even |
